The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first scheme to oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
